How often are the data sets updated?

I try to update the data sets soon after they appear.

  • The Census American Community Survey data gets updated annually, toward the end of the year. In 2019, they updated on 12/19/19. When the Census data is updated, the application has to be updated with new, underlying, GIS data that is correct for the end-year of the Census data.
  • The NCES data sources (schools and colleges) and IMLS data are updated annually.
  • The FCC data sets are posted typically twice a year. I try to update the application’s database soon after it appears. It take a couple of days, though, to transform, vet, and load the data.
